Department of Botany
With its inception in 1966, the Department has been contributing towards imparting higher education in the area of plant sciences to the students of Union Territory as well as adjoining areas of Gujarat and Maharashtra. The Department of Botany has been offering a UG program in Botany (B.Sc. Botany) and from the academic session 2018-19, the Department of Botany has started a PG Program in Botany (M.Sc Botany), a degree course affiliated to Veer Narmad South Gujarat University, Surat, Gujarat. The department has a dedicated Botanical Garden housing nearly 100 species of ecological, medicinal and ornamental value. At present, the Department has dedicated laboratories for UG and PG, where the practical classes are conducted for developing research interest in students.On 5th September 2019, the Department of Botany founded its Botanical Society “FLORES” with the students of MSc Botany as its office bearers. The society is named “FLORES”, after the Portuguese term for FLOWER.
